In the city of Montepulciano, one of the loveliest in Tuscany, the Easter Festival has become an established annual appointment for lovers of music, art and the good things in life.

During the Easter weekend period, the architecture and paintings of Man and Nature can be enjoyed to the notes of sublime Music, in the so-called “jewel in the Renaissance crown” and other atmospheric historic villages in the area.

A one-off, special occasion to enjoy a full immersion in the famous Beauty of this area, in a cornucopia of Arts while soaking up the incomparable tranquillity of the Tuscan countryside where everything, including the culture of wine, olive oil and food, has always come together to guarantee a sense of universal peace and harmony.

Eleonora Contucci, founder and creator of the Easter Festival at Montepulciano and an opera singer born into one of the oldest local families, grew up as part of the fascinating artistic Utopia created there by Hans Werner Henze, the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte.

The idea for the Easter Festival came to Eleonora following an happy encounter with a group of Swiss musicians, on the occasion of a series of concerts in Montepulciano and Pienza with some Swiss musicians who, it transpired, shared not only her passion and disinterested enthusiasm for music but also for the other side of the coin, professional precision – along with her love of Beauty. These ingredients and the appeal of the settings made the concerts unforgettable for the richness and warmth of the experience, both for the public and the players.

The Montepulciano Easter Festival, created in 2015 and registered as an Association the following year, expressed the natural desire to continue the magic of that experience, and is now anxiously awaited by performers and audience alike.

This annual event returns every year with the same Ideals, but with with many new ideas.
